A Proposal in the Design Process

My colleague, Dione Bailey and I have been working on the design and layout of the typical Dream Farm Home. The Dream Farm will have 18 of them on the site along with a charter school, athletics center and farm. We are sharing it here, for the first time today (still a work in progress).

Seeking initial estimates from commercial builders.

We are planning a residential charter school to be built in Douglas, Coos or Lane county.

Initially we need your rough estimate to excavate (provide cost per foot of elevation, to remove 17424 sq ft. of area - 132' x 132' ), and build a steel, reinforced concrete slab and column construction, windowed curtain wall 7 story building. Each floor will have 18 bedrooms, 6 pairs of which share community style bathrooms (2 toilets, 1 bidet, 2 showers, 4 sinks, 1 tub), three bedrooms of which have private bathrooms with a shower, sink, toilet and bidet (ie hotel style).

One floor of this building will have only a single office style bathroom built to code for capacity of 24 people with 2 showers 4 sinks in each men's and women's bathroom. This one floor will also have a small kitchen.

We are looking to get rough estimates back ASAP. Absolute deadline Nov 28.

See www.dreamfarm.us for more details.

A Place to Build

One of the ideas behind the Dream Farm is to build a prototype community that can be replicated around the world.  We are planning to build this model near the University of Oregon in hopes that the university, it's staff and students can participate in the Dream Farm's development.  Oregon is an ideal location in the USA because of the relatively low cost of property (800 acres for the same price as the average one bedroom apartment in Manhattan - $900,000) and an abundance of rain, and fresh air.

These are images of one potential property...
